Sauna and Heat Therapy
As per my previous post on cold water therapy, we know that exposing your body to various extreme temperatures has its benefits. When it comes to the cold, the body sends certain signals. With the heat, it’s various others. When it’s them both combined, the pair is complete. Let's learn more about why you should consider using sauna and heat therapy in your regular wellness routine.
The use of sauna and heat therapy have been around for centuries, but only recently has the trend kicked off due to actual scientific proof backing up its validity. The heat helps aid in many internal processes and regulations, and it also helps increase your heart rate for a little cardio without movement. Below are my personal reasons to participate in sauna:
Improves heart health: through high heat your heart rate increases while not being in movement, mimicking cardio exercise while incorporating mindfulness and breath awareness to calm you down.
Aids in muscle recovery
Improves resilience towards stress by decreasing cortisol levels
Excretion of toxins through sweat
The list goes on and on, and the community of people you meet in these spaces of wellness help to further expand your mind and appreciation towards your body. While sauna has a continued laundry list of benefits, it’s not for everyone. Those who are pregnant or with various diseases where heat can trigger it, saunas should be avoided.
